JKUAT ADMINISTRATION SCAM EXPOSED..
November 14, 2014mukamitracy
My name is JOYCE , I am a student in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology main campus in juja. For me to write this message, I had to do research and intense consultation with so many individuals who referred me to you. THIS IS A CRY FOR HELP from jkuat students who are suffering at the oppression of the administration that is full of unethical and fraudulent personnel’s.
I will elaborate to you why I claim this but what I will ask of you is this, please and again please if you can, let the president to look upon this and commission a body to carry investigations concerning the allegations.
I will stipulate them because we have tried with other authorities and the only thing that has come about is negligence and victimization of the students who have spearhead this motion. Personally as I tell you this, I am scared to death that if I am found out, this people (Admin) will ruin my life for good, as much as this is Kenya and it has a fallacy of you can’t fight a system and in this case jkuat administration, I believe I will create a platform for a better generation of students that will become pioneers of massive prosperity.
The strike that recently happened wasn’t because of the reasons they gave to the media, they covered it up hiding all the reasons stipulated below. This is what jkuat administration has done and is doing to us.
Allegations
1. Jkuat is the highest paying institution in East and Central Africa for both JAB and SSP. The fee is ridiculously high and has been constantly increasing e.g. from 2800- 6500 for accommodation within 2 semesters and there hasn’t been any kind of development in the school apart from administrators buying flashy cars.
2. Being a school of technology, it is the most underdeveloped school with no equipment to perform practicals yet we need hands on experience to cater for the needs of the public in the corporate world.
We are in the 21st century and we still queue in the finance department for days, no automation has taken place in jkuat being a school of technology.
Please try reason with me here, you come to jkuat to learn, only to get out half-baked for the corporate world and since you have the papers they believe you well capacitated for the job market. They entrust you with a given responsibility only for you not to deliver and maybe mess up, making the corporate make losses, then sue you for an amount you can’t afford.
I am sure you have heard of doctors who have killed their patients while performing surgery because they luck skills since they weren’t equitably trained.
-Or rather go to a company where, since you aren’t capacitated for the job, they train you using their resources only to bind you for a number of years to work for them. If you want to exit from the company before your binding time expires, u r made to pay for what they used to train you which am sure will be a lot.
In a hypothetical situation you may be an entrepreneurial guy who has innovative incentives that can used to solve the problems in our society, but u can’t leave since ur bound by law to work in a company for a period of time with the training you paid for in campus that wasn’t delivered to the student because the university has become another cartel of gluttons. Hope u get what I am saying here.
3. The student union has been fully infiltrated by the administration rendering the students completely powerless in making decisions, we recently did our elections only for the administration to choose their puppets and this was a plan from the beginning, this is how
- The chairman post went unopposed from the 5 candidates who were vying for chairperson.
The administration looked for complications to root them out and give someone who will dance to their tune. I am sure even the president himself had 7 candidates fighting for that post, he didn’t go unopposed, this is a breach of the constitution chapter 1,section 1,subsection 2 which says: “The people may exercise their sovereign power either directly or through their democratically elected representatives.” So is other 3 seats in the jkuso executive council.
4. The VC prof. mabel imbuga’s much as she is well accredited for her academic achievement, she has used jkuat student money to empower herself extravagantly by building high class hostels and rentals in juja.
I did some research only to find out she is the greatest stakeholder in the zetech chain of colleges which for you information, has high-tech and ultra-modern facilities than jkuat and it’s a constituent campus of jkuat.
-Together with her DVCs they have built the biggest and well known hostels in juja, not that am against it, but at what cost???Of the comrades money yet we don’t get our money’s worth.
5. Imbuga’s 2nd term in 2013 was not legal as she was arrested because she took up power again and appointed her DVCs which wasn’t gazetted, hence breaking the law leading to her conviction. She worked her way out using vocal student leaders who were paid a lumpsum to push for her 2nd term in the university board of directors. There is more to the story that if you investigate you will unveil a lot.
6. jkuat staff are unethical, inconsiderable and trifling from the teaching to the non-teaching staff, grounds men even have the audacity of insulting you and even if you report them the body your reporting to neglects completely and urges the student to move on.
The school administrators are so disrespectful to students that one gets discouraged even to enquire information, to them you are wasting their time.
7. Jkuat hospital has been a witness to the death of students only because of negligence, am sure u have heard about the student who died from falling on 4th floor in the hostels. The reason for injury was the fall but the cause of death was blood loss.
The hospital staff were busy inside there cafeteria getting there break at 7.00 pm and even after the emergency call where they are even seeing blood oozing, they just call an ambulance to take the patient to KNH.
The student was declared dead by the arrival time. I wish to tell u in person what transpired because it is very sad, the deaths are more than 4, there hasn’t been any student parent powerful enough to sue jkuat as an institution and that is why they have constantly gotten away with it.
8. There isn’t enough classes as the school accommodates so many parallel student to make more money every semester making students have to skip or post pone classes to the following week since classes are occupied.
9. Jkuat constructions are never completed a building since 2002 has never been completed ironically the institution is a home of civil engineers.
10. We pay 1,159 every semester for trips, now am almost completing and I have never seen the inside the jkuat bus since trips have been postponed and cancelled numerous times from 1st yr. That is billions of money going into the admin kit.
11. If u have watched the news on ntv, after the strike, guys were told to go back with 5,200 for damages. Approximately we will be contributing about 200million, this is for windows imagine which I know the school has insured as an institution insures for riots.
Now they are using divide n rule where, they told 1st years and finalists to report on 10th nov this Monday having paid the 5200 n made sure 5 Lorries of GSU are present to intimidate students not to demonstrate. This is because 1st years who have only stayed for less than 2 month’s would be brought back by parents and finalists only have 6 weeks to be done with jkuat for good and leave jkuat with its problems.
They have also made sure the continuing students come back on 26th only to be bombarded by final exams on 8th December so they focus on exams and spend less time plotting to demonstrate but the fee stays the same, nothing changes.
12. The student elections on 28th October was rigged by the admin to push for the student they knew they could easily control and intimidate. The true student comrades had won by 7pm only for things to be overturned by 11 late night and all the comrades were wiped out. It finally dawned on us that project admin gained power.
The comrades’ aspirants appealed for a petition only to be taken for a ride till the strike happened on 31st October. With no student witnesses, the newly appointed student leaders were sworn in on 11 November in secrecy, thus on Tuesday and went for a retreat in naivasha where they were given hefty allowances.
It is logical for someone to go broke after campaigns not buy new phones and suits in less than a week and this are the representatives who didn’t even say a word concerning the damage fee, meaning the students’ rights can’t be exercised as the people who we expect to fight for us, are paid to work against us students.
There is a lot I have left out. Hopefully we can get in touch I tell u in detail everything that is happening so that the government can know what is really happening, but for now, what I would appreciate is an investigation concerning the allegations I have stipulated above. This allegations are all true, they just need to be exposed to the public.
Lectures don’t deliver in class, they treat us like crap, yaani there is a lot u need to know it can’t be expressed by writing. The economy of Kenya will be doomed as students will get out unequipped for the job market. In the ranking of the global universities as UON and KU ranks go up, JKUAT goes down, check the latest university ranking.
This is abortion of purpose in life for the young generation of us students.
I have faith in you to push for our cries in the limited time to save jkuat. The Nation should know what jkuat is undergoing.
I may not be the Martin Luther of my time but I would love to be a part of the men that will push for the emergence of great men like him. I have not lost hope in saving this country, but its start with the small things and I pray God that I will be part of a solution to a problem facing us as a nation and as a global community. Thank you. Looking forward to your response
